Preserving Our Architectural Heritage

On December 1, the Trinidad and Tobago Institute of Architects (TTIA) held a talk entitled “Preserving Our Architectural Heritage” at the recently renovated Queen’s Royal College in Port of Spain. Speakers included opening addresses by President Mark Raymond and incoming President for the Joint Consultative Council for the Construction Industry (JCC), Afra Raymond, as well as featured speakers Rudylynn Roberts and Geoffrey MacLean (in photo above), who spoke about the Citizens for Conservation”s efforts and the urgent need to preserve our built heritage. Bernard Mackay gave the feature address on the architectural restoration of QRC. All speakers spoke about the urgent need for the Government to advance the restoration of the historic President’s House which had a severe collapse earlier this year. The event was fully sponsored and well attended by members of the public, architects, the media and others in the construction industry. The event was concluded with a tour of QRC.
